I just learned that the US military is punishing a soldier for stopping a child rape! In another case soldiers were forced to turn a blind eye while an Afghan policeman raped a 14 year old girl. After serving a 1 day sentence the young girl was forced to marry the Afghan pedophile.

This has to stop! In 2001, we sent our men and women in uniform to Afghanistan to defeat the Taliban and stop their atrocities. Today, we tell them to turn a blind eye to the rape and sexual abuse of children by the military that we trained and now support. Now reports are "leaking" out that sexual abuse of children, both girls and boys, has been a problem encountered by our military in Afghanistan for more than a decade.

American soldiers and Marines have been told "it is their culture" and instructed not to intervene. The New York Times reported: http://tinyurl.com/USSoldierWronglyPunished, that soldiers who tried to stop child rape were removed from their command and pulled from Afghanistan.

Since the Obama administration will not stop this horror, we must stand up for what is morally right and speak for those who have no voice.

Please sign this petition we are sending to Congress and let's force President Obama and his administration to stop punishing our soldiers for doing what is right.

I have been reading through the comments all morning and honestly the stories people are sharing about these situations are just completely gut wrenching. It is so difficult to wrap my head around the fact that anyone would be told to look the other way when something this evil is happening right in front of them.

I honestly did not think this would gain so much ground so quickly because it feels like everyone looks away from this topic. The sheer volume of people finally refusing to be silent about these atrocities is overwhelming and reminds me why I started this in the first place.

This has been happening through two administrations now. A new Commander in Chief will take office in just 15 months. Please let's ensure we make this an issue that a third administration will not ignore!

No one should get away with rape,, and no one should get punished for intervening with someone being raped.

If nothing else, a serious investigation is needed. Just believing high level commanders assuring us that nothing happened cannot be the answer.

This is disgusting...punishing an American soldier for doing what is right by stopping child rape? Where is the justice for our military?

who are to turn our eyes on that type of an issue?! To that Solider who tried to stop it. Thank you. Not only for serving this country but the people. For being a man doing what was right. I work with women and children for a living who are victims or human trafficking and sex slavery and it needs to stop! I can't believe what I just read.
