URGENT: RESTORE the painting over of this piece of Galway culture - Claddagh mural on Claddagh Jewellers, Galway.

Councillors should be ashamed off themselves,there are a lot more buildings around galway city center that are an eye sore with paint and plaster falling off ,broken signs rotten windows and doors,una taffees building in particular is a flipping disgrace,at least claddagh jewelers are keeping pride in their premises and it definitely is one of the better looking building's in the city and with that lovely piece of art was definitely the best,numerous times I've seen tourists taken pictures of the lovely mural of just that building on that street so that's saying a lot,once again councillors haven't a clue.

Ridiculous, seeing the unchallenged destruction of other aspects of our built environment, then seeing this mural taken down.

This action highlights the 'incompetence' and the 'inability to think outside the box' of the 'powers that be' in Galway city council. Galways greatest gift is The Arts, and its wonderful artists, both resudent and visiting, Whoever authorised this decision needs to be named!

These murals are part of galway and the people, Galway county council you obviously have no idea of Galways heart and soul. As long as it generates money isnt that it?

Painting over this advert/ mural was the result of dull, unimaginative, bureaucratic idiots to whom the people have empowered. Let them know they seem to be out of step with the community on this one.

And Galway want to be known as the city of what in 2020? The city of nothing? No Culture..... Very disappointed with Galaxy County Council

There are sooo, SO many more serious and important matters needing adressed. I understand the concern for image given the 2020bid. But even that is no excuse. This was art. What can you say about campaign posters? Litter? Uninhabited buildings that are becoming delapitated? The unfortunate homeless? If you will allow people to cover every lamp post, and traffic light with placards but not allow this building its artwork ....Please...rethink your priorities for the sake of the people you claim for have in your best interest.

Terrible decision to remove this piece of Art from Galway City. This is what the city is known and loved for.

Why remove such a beautiful painting !! Do our City planners understand the importance of such a beautiful addition in our bid for 2020 Capitol of culture ie design. Shame on them. Well done Claddagh Jewellers for brightening up Galway !!!!

This is an iconic mural in Galway. My visiting friends from all over the world have all taken pictures of this and it's part of Galway. ... don't remove it. We are living in a democratic society not a sensored dictatorship! !!!!

Absolute disgrace they removed it, why don't they clean up the graffiti in Eyre square instead ? Council is being runned by a bunch of eejits!!!

Focus on homeless people and domestic violence and don't worry about waste less painting over this. Crazyness.
