Community Developer, Rebecca Doll and her employer, the Social Planning and Research Council may part company due to some currently unresolved matters. Rebecca Doll has been involved in community development work in one form or another for at least six years in our neighbourhoods. The SPRC is the new game in town with regard to the supervision of Community Developers.
Losing Rebecca from community development would be a huge loss to this very important endeavour that hundreds of us in the lower city and beyond are pouring our heart and soul into.
Rebecca has been instrumental in guiding four lower city neighbourhoods through such things as the founding process and many growth phases and initiatives. In some initiatives, Rebecca has been the initial champion and then followed up her ideas with years of hard work to deliver these initiative-assets to our neighbourhoods.
The loss of this valuable leader-asset is not acceptable.
We the undersigned, respectfully ask that the two parties agree to mediation, resolve their issues and come back to doing what they both desire to do: help our neighbourhoods be great places to live, work and raise a family.

I have been reading your messages about how much Rebecca has done for our streets and I am truly stunned by the depth of this support. I am currently working to open a direct line of communication with the council to share these sentiments on your behalf.

she knows this city better than anyone. FIX THIS MESS.
we need leadership like hers. she helped us get our garden project off the ground when nobody else cared.
Rebecca is the heart of what we do here. she actually listens to residents and thats rare these days.
Rebecca has a passion for community development. She is a success story with her leadership and contribution to this work.
DONT LET HER GO. she has put so much work into our area it would be a total shame to see her pushed out now.

When we talk about "Asset Based Community Development" what we are really talking about are all the incredible people that help make our neighbourhoods great. Rebecca Doll has Championed many of community success stories that are helping to make our neighbourhoods a city wide leader in neighbourhood development. As neighbours we ask that SPRC return to the table of resident led input, empowerment and action.
