We understand that on Monday 13 October, the House of Commons will debate a backbench motion: “That this House believes that the Government should recognise the state of Palestine alongside the state of Israel.”

We note that there is an amendment to this motion: “on the conclusion of successful peace negotiations between the Israeli government and the Palestinian Authority.’"

We appeal to you as our MP to:

· Turn up to the debate.

· Vote for the amendment.

· Add your name to the amendment.

The principle of a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine issue is widely accepted, although not by Hamas and at best grudgingly by the Palestinian Authority. The two-state solution must be achieved through negotiation and genuine mutual agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, not through unilateral moves nor pre-emptive recognition.

Unilateral moves such as Israel's withdrawal from Gaza in 2005 have not succeeded, whereas negotiated peace deals such as the treaties between Israel and Egypt and later Jordan have proved durable.

How would Britain have felt if the USA had unilaterally recognised an independent Northern Ireland with two states whilst it was in negotiations with the IRA and other parties to find a peaceful solution?

I am firmly opposed to the creation of a Palestinian State. Firstly, it leaves Israel with a piece of land that is too small to defend militarily. Secondly, the Palestinians have no intention whatsoever of living at peace with Israel. They simply want the State as a stepping stone from which to destroy Israel. This is abundantly clear from 1) The original Palestinian and Hamas covenants, which have never been amended. 2) the perpetual gross incitement against Israel that occurs within all Palestinian bodies. This is most noticeable within the Palestinian school system.

Recognising a state before a deal is signed is just madness. It rewards people who dont even want peace in the first place.

I am another like Charles I don't believe in a state for Palestinians the Arabs could have given them enough land for them to ruin like they did with Israel before the Jews came back

I am of the same opinion as Charles Brunger. Making a separate Palestinian State won't solve anything.

Lunacy. But then, Parliament is chock-full of bigots.
