Yet another example of politicians proposing or worse yet enacting legislation without understanding the ramifications and consequences of their actions and without consulting with individuals or groups such as our Society who have expertise in the topic and can provide pros and cons. Our elected officials need to learn to consult and collaborate more and stop thinking that they know better on all topics than their constituents. Bill 4204 is bad not only for small business owners but aslo for the end consumer who may bear the brunt of added costs incured by those small businesses they procure services from.

This bill is not worded correctly and would make it very difficult is not impossible for independently owned and operated firms to work together on anything. Please do not pass this bill as presented.

I agree that this bill has to be stopped. If passed, this bill will create many complications to different types of business, will hurt small businesses and NJ economy in total.

Bill 4204:
This bill will make it impossible to conduct business. Productivity would decline.
The engine of our economy (entrepreneurs) will be crushed in no small part.

What are you people thinking? Are you THAT full of yourself that you aren't aware of the broader ramifications of the steps you take in Trenton?

This bill would hurt small business in NJ. In addition to requiring extra costs it would add burdensome reporting & tracking requirements that do not make sense. Please restore sanity and stop this bill as now written.

Don't pass this bill. Independent small businesses are independent, not employees.

This is a bad bill that apparently is attempting to stop the abuses of classification. It seems to me that the state is trying to throw a blanket over the whole situation rather than enforce the actual abuses. I can’t even imagine how this would stand up if challenged through the court system. The example of contractor A hiring contractor B makes no sense. In this scenario contractor A would give a W-2 to the employees of contractor B. Does this include the clerical staff of contractor B that are doing office functions that support the job? Simply lacks any common sense and is unworkable.
