URGENT! NJ Business Owners The Sweeney Bill (S4204) Must Be Stopped!

It is not the business of the state to determine how people choose to make a living or side gig.

Are you a commie? I’d expect a bill of this caliber from an idiot like AOC. Don’t pass the ridiculous bill. It will harm small business owners!

If this bill goes through it would not just significantly affect myself and my family, but also the children and families I serve involved in the NJ family system of care. Please do NOT pass this bill.

I oppose this legislation. I am a freelance writer, and it will destroy my ability to make a living in NJ.

I am very alarmed by the Bill S4204. This bill will drastically adversely impact my small business and my ability to support my family with the flexibility that I need as a working mother.

This bill is wrong-headed and an affront to all New Jerseyans who are doing what they can, how they can to keep their families solvent. Sorry Mr. Sweeney, but not all of us are blessed with union jobs and trust funds. The broad middle and lower rungs of our state are drowning, and you keep handing us anchors.

There are countless small businesses in New Jersey that hire independent artists and teachers to enrich and educate on a freelance, short-term basis: music schools, art programs, writing programs, acting schools, adult education programs, after-school programs, tutoring programs, and more. S4204/A5936 has the potential of putting all of us out of business as well as depleting the opportunities for education, creativity, and economic growth and stability in communities all over New Jersey.

We are already at the bottom of business and tax climate. People are leaving the State as it is because of these issues. Please don't make it worse!!

This will increase costs for small businesses. Many businesses are correctly issuing 1099's for contractors under the current law. Why have them issue W-2's to companies that have a different business and their own employees and worker's comp? The liability would transfer to the business owner.
