We, the residents of Rethabiseng, Ward 103, Region 7, hereby submit this memorandum to formally raise our serious concerns regarding the ongoing lack of running water in our community. This situation has persisted for an extended period and continues to severely impact on our daily lives.
2. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The community is experiencing a critical shortage of water, with little to no running water available in households. For the past Three Months with no clear indication or communication from the Municipality.
Residents are unable to access basic water services through their taps, which is a fundamental human right.
This has resulted in:
• Inability to maintain proper hygiene and sanitation
• Increased risk of waterborne diseases
• Disruption of daily household activities such as cooking and cleaning
• Hardship for vulnerable groups including the elderly, children, and the sick
3.IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY
The absence of reliable water supply has created a public health crisis and has negatively affected the dignity and well-being of residents. Community members are forced to travel long distances to access water from alternative sources, which are often unsafe and insufficient.
4. DEMANDS
1. Immediate restoration of running water supply
2. Clear communication on the issue and timelines
3. Long-term sustainable solution
5. TIMEFRAME FOR RESPONSE
A response is required within 7 working days.
6. CONCLUTION
Access to clean and running water is a basic human right. We call upon the municipality to treat this matter with the urgency and seriousness it deserves. The residents of Rethabiseng cannot continue to live under these conditions.
Water is a human right. We don’t have water most of the time and when they open it for us,the water is undrinkable..It’s dirty..Can we have water, clean, drinkable water..
