Schools across the nation are locking up a basic human necessity - Bathrooms -and they're sending an automated Email to parents EVERY TIME a student SCANS to use the bathroom. This new "policy" undermines the very principles of our great nation - the LIBERTY to use the bathroom when you need to.
This policy requires students to ASK to use the bathroom during valuable class time. This wastes both the time of the student and the time of the faculty to unlock the bathroom for the student, when the student COULD have used the bathroom in class transition time.
Supporters of this policy defend it by arguing that it prevents students from vaping and vandalizing in the bathrooms, but there are better alternatives that address the root of the problem and discourage abuse of bathrooms.

I have been hearing from so many parents who are tired of their children being treated like suspects just for needing the restroom. My own kid comes home embarrassed by this surveillance and I refuse to let this become the new normal.

Seeing this feedback confirms that I am not the only one frustrated by the way our kids are being treated. It is a relief to know that so many of you value basic dignity as much as I do.

It's just weird how they're going to email our parents every time we use the bathroom; its like they don't trust us anymore. This doesn't even feel like a school anymore; it feels more like a prison.
Absolutely agree. It’s a complete disgrace that the school system has reached this point
As someone with a health issue that requires me to be able to use the bathroom in a sufficient manner I need the bathrooms unlocked
It does come to be a bit stressful, as it takes much more time going to other bathrooms. And this especially does not stop with people smoking and such.
This rule is so dumb I need to go to the bathroom in my own hallway in between and in classes
I luv peeing
The people that came in, they're locking the bathrooms, emailing the parents

It is a violation of basic human rights, we need to get back the right of the students to use the bathroom whenever they need to.
