At B.M.C. Durfee High School, the whole school is put on a strict bathroom schedule, where the bathrooms are locked for majority of the day. We are trying to help stop this from continuing, since there are many issues with how this is being handled. They should at least unlock the bathrooms before first period, or before class starts so that it allows students to go in between classes, rather than missing valuable class time.

Having gone to that school, I agree that going from one area to get to the only 2 bathrooms that are open doesn't give you enough time. Not to even discuss if you have a physical disability that limits the pace you can move at.
This issue is a health hazard, there are many illnesses which require immediate access to a bathroom. I suggest this be reported to govt health authorities. Students should not have to disclose confidential medical information to have access to bathrooms.
As a mother of a dufee student I was unaware that the bathrooms were locked however I can understand the safety aspect but if you are gonna lock the bathrooms they must be unlocked Before & After every class so that the children can relieve themselves so that it's not a disruption during class.
I attended Durfee from class of 2019 & there were many times I couldn’t go to the bathroom and had to walk all the way downstairs or on the opposite side of the building, then would get in trouble for “taking too long”
As a parent of a child with intestinal issues, these bathrooms should be open at all times. Girls who have their periods, should be able to change when needed. And if someone should get sick, where would they go to vomit or have a BM. This isn’t right!!!
That's is not fair cause If someone has to use the bathroom they can't say they can't go I know if that was me I would complain to my parents and they would have to deal with it they can't say you can't use the bathrrom cause kids want to be stupid and Vap
Parents of those children should tell them No. Di impact other students who are not vaping but are impacted

I am in project red and black and was in a group To fix the bathrooms. They’d rather lock them than fix them. 90% of the stalls between each gender don’t work. I took the data. The least they could do is leave the bathrooms unlocked .
