The administration officially conceded this morning and reversed the fee hike for our sports clubs. My teammates and I are finally breathing a sigh of relief now that this burden has been lifted. We will be keeping a close eye on their budget plans for the future to ensure this …

Seeing these names stack up reminds me how many of us are being blindsided by this sudden price hike. If we push this past five hundred signatures today we will have the leverage we need to force a meeting with the department heads.

Seeing one hundred people sign this shows I am not the only one struggling with these sudden financial demands. My training schedule is becoming impossible to manage under these new costs and your support proves this frustration is felt across the entire club.

If the University sports centre is reeling from lack of funds, perhaps it should consider lowering prices to compete with more complete gym and sports centre options outside of campus. Another option would be a subsidised membership for those who only wish to be part of an AU club.

The gym equipment is always broken anyway. Why are we paying double for less time in the year? Sort it out.

In addition to collapsing the bronze/silver/gold tiered membership, gym membership now only runs from September to July, rather than being a whole year membership. So if you were a bronze or silver member before you are now paying the same, or even twice as much, for a shorter membership. Although many students go home over the summer, some of us do stay and would like to continue using the sports facilities. The single session fees can really add up and would be particularly unfair if you've already bought an over-priced membership.

This price hike is absolutely mental. I have no choice but to pay it if I want to play for my club and it feels like a total rip-off.

nearly 100 percent increase is just greedy. its literally impossible for some of us to play sport now.
