I really thought this might just be a small thing I tossed out into the void but looking at the momentum now honestly has me pacing around my room in shock because it clearly resonates with so many of you who find the whole naming situation just as bizarre as I do. People keep sending me messages about why this matters to them and reading those notes is genuinely the most surreal part of this entire week.

Just leave the name alone. stop trying to change everything for a quick buck.
Keep basketball out of politics. We just want to watch the games without some corporate sponsor shoved down our throats.
Ridiculous. Nobody asked for this.
This is so embarrassing for the university. UK basketball is about tradition not industry lobbying.
The wildcat lodge has always meant something special to the players and the fans. putting coal in the name ruins the whole vibe of the program. smh
