Faculty members understand the importance of commencement for students and families. It is a great event to be celebrated, however, requiring each faculty member to attend two graduations in one day is ridiculous (one bad speech is enough).
We propose the following solutions for future commencements:
a) divide the faculty into groups with group one assigned to the morning and group two assigned in the afternoon.
b) rent a larger venue
Two ceremonies is way too much to ask of anyone. One is already long enough to sit through in those hot robes. Just let us split the load.
