Regarding the thermostat the following. It is more common that landlords do not give tenants access to the thermostat. This is often done because international students set the temperature too high. However, this is not allowed. As a tenant you are entitled to enjoy the rented room (in Dutch: recht op woongenot) and because you are not able to regulate the temperature yourself, your right to enjoy living is reduced. We can send our signed petition to studentstay with our legal advice letter and send an email with a request to repair the defect by giving us access to the thermostat.
