I have been reading through all your stories about walking home in the dark and they honestly break my heart. It is truly humbling to see how many of you care about our neighborhood safety. This is all down to you and the strength you have shown by speaking up.

I truly never imagined that so many people would join me in asking for these lights to be turned back on. The momentum we have right now is entirely because you chose to speak up about our safety in Colchester. Please know that this progress belongs to you and your willingness to push for change.

It is pitch black outside my house now and I hate walking the dog at night. Way too dangerous.
The council need to wake up before someone gets really hurt. It feels like a ghost town once the sun goes down.
MY CAR GOT BROKEN INTO LAST WEEK. THE THIEVES LOVE THE DARKNESS. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS DECISION.
I work shifts and coming home at 2am is scary now. Hard to see where you are walking with absolutely zero light.
About time someone did something about this. We pay high council tax for services we dont even get. Turn them back on ASAP.

Streetlights should be turned back on for safety reasons & to cut giving dark cover for butglars at night.We've paid for lighting in community charge so they should supply it or refund money to charge payers
