We, the undersigned, as poultry farmers, backyard flock keepers, and chicken lovers, do hereby solemnly request that Tractor Supply Company (TSC) institute a Notification System to be used during TSC's annual "Chick Days." This notification system would involve each Tractor Supply Company store (or, if possible, one store to cover a specific region) create an account at BackyardChickens.com (http://www.backyardchickens.com). Through this account, TSC would post notifications on the "Raising Chicks" forum regarding: 1. The arrival of new chicks (ie., "Today we received 2 dozen Cornish X, 1 dozen Golden Comets, and 2 dozen assorted bantams" 2. The status of the store's chicks (ie, "We've reduced the price on our week-old Assorted Red Pullets to 79¢ each") 3. Any chick that is in dire need of adoption due to injury (ie, "We have a bantam whose toe has been flayed by the other chicks in its brooder; can someone please adopt it?" or "We have a Golden Comet pullet whose tailfeathers have been pulled out by its brooder mates; can someone please adopt it?") By posting these notifications to the "Raising Chicks" forum on BackyardChickens.com, not only does TSC do itself a service — connecting directly with those most willing and able to buy the chicks — but also allows those chicks who need assistance to be adopted by people who are knowledgeable in the care of chickens. Creating an account takes all of two minutes. Posting a weekly update or an update as needed for an injured chick takes about a minute. We, the undersigned, hope that TSC will approve and adopt these minor measures company-wide to provide the best for the chicks TSC stocks.
