Improve Triangle Road Cycle Lane - Stop Traffic Sitting in the Cycle Lane
We the undersigned, believe that the current Triangle road cycle lane, is not functioning properly, and putting cyclists at risk.
Triangle road has 2 lanes for Cars, and 1 bicycle lane, in the peak-morning traffic, cars make 3 lanes, meaning cyclist have to squeeze between them, making the cycle lanes redundant.
Our preference is for a physical barrier to prevent cars using the cycle lane. This will ensure cyclist safety, and prevent offending.
If this is not possible, the next preference is for Auckland Council to undertake an enforcement program, With offending vehicles being warned, and in time, fined for not obeying the road rules.
The Western cycle track is a wonderful facility, but the current state of the Triangle road cycle lanes, is putting lives at risk. Fixing this issue will help encourage cycling in Auckland, which has many positive knock-on effects.
This matter has previously been raised with the Auckland council, however no suitable action has been taken.
