As a supporter of Barack Obama's campaign for President, I call for transparency and integrity in using the local campaign's email list and Obama's name. 1) Cease use of Obama related lists for any purpose outside of official Obama campaign or transition communications. 2) Cease use of local Obama events for other political initiatives or purposes outside of official Obama campaign or transition activity. Other activities and email lists must be independent from official Obama related activity or email lists in order to maintain the credibility of President Obama and the local Obama organization, and to respect the diverse political opinions of local Obama supporters.

It is clear that maintaining a distinct separation between official communications and independent political efforts remains a priority for many. I am currently reaching out to local organizers to discuss how we might formalize these expectations for future engagements.
