As a supporter of Barack Obama's campaign for President, I call for transparency and integrity in using the local campaign's email list and Obama's name. 1) Cease use of Obama related lists for any purpose outside of official Obama campaign or transition communications. 2) Cease use of local Obama events for other political initiatives or purposes outside of official Obama campaign or transition activity. Other activities and email lists must be independent from official Obama related activity or email lists in order to maintain the credibility of President Obama and the local Obama organization, and to respect the diverse political opinions of local Obama supporters.

Sacramentans for Accountability have made unauthorized use of local Obama supporter email addresses to support Mayor Kevin Johnson's strong mayor initiative petition drive. Events organized by the Sacramento for Obama organization have been held where one of the purposes was to pitch the strong mayor initiative and sign people up to participate. Participants did not know ahead of time. Supplies of Obama buttons and Obama's name are being used in association with Sacramentans for Accountability while collecting petition signatures, implying support or relationship with an Obama organization. This has concerned many Obama supporters, none of whom were asked if they wanted to participate or endorse Sacramentans for Accountability petition drive.
