Traffic Calming Measures for the Bird Streets in Pt Chevalier

We're on Riro Street and I support a review of the bird and adjacent streets and traffic calming measures. As the first street able to be used as a "short cut" off Great North Road Riro Street is very busy and sometimes dangerously so. Worse in rush hour. It's certainly not helped that it is also used by heavy trucks accessing the motorway works sites. As a general observation, the combination of speed, straight streets / number of intersections, and the large number of pedestrians its quite problematic. A comprehensive review needs to be undertaken to consider the needs of all users and safety of residents. Pt Chev has, it seems, a real population surge evident in a number of ways, with traffic management being just one more thing that needs to be reviewed. Keep safe folks.

We live on Huia Road which some nights becomes a race course with cars driving in excess of 100km. We need more tools to slow down the traffic and make our roads safe for young children.

I live at 98 Huia Road and regularly observe and hear cars driving extremely fast down our street. I'm often up feeding my newborn during the early hours and heard one car drive in excess of 100km recently at 2am - this needs to stop.

We have two pre school boys and the speed at which cars travel down our street (Huia Road) is frightening. On numerous occasions I have had to wave my arms to slow cars down (often while holding a child).

Speed calming measures are absolutely nessacery! There is a daycare on Moa rd, add a Kindergarten nearby to the mix, Pt Chev rd has always been notorious for speeding cars...especially in the summer as they hoon down to the beach with ridiculously loud music at all hours of the day and night! Surrounding streets of Walker park are very busy with speeding cars also. Something needs to be done for the sake of our children and families of the community!

We live on Huia Road, near the junction with Wakatipu Road. Cars often speed down Huia and don't stop at the junction. It's very dangerous at the moment.

I live on Moa Road and am often alarmed at the speed people travel on our streets. I have young children who walk or bike to school and I am very wary of where we cross the road - the hill creates lots of blind spots and the speed of people cutting through from Meola to Great North Road gives me great concern for the safety of young children in the area. I would happily support any measures that slow all traffic driving on our street and the surrounding streets.

It is important for a Disabled person who wants to be independent crossing the streets without anxiety/nervous

We live on Walmer with two small kids and often when I'm turning into it from Moa someone comes flying down Moa and gives me a minor heart attack. I never feel certain anyone will stop at the stop signs either. The scattering of speed bumps is not effective enough, much more needs to be done to stop people racing and cutting through these streets

As a resident of Harbour View Road I frequently travel along Wakatipu and Walmer and Moa Roads. I do not speed, but on many occasions I have had a very close call when drivers are not complying with Stop signs. I also have concerns about the speed of cars on Harbour View Road, specially during summer when many beach visitors bring their children. But I guess that issue is a separate petition.

I live on walmer and find the intersection with wakatipu very dangerous, you have to be very cautious about reckless drivers. Last year a car drove straight into a parked car outside our house while speeding down walmer. Please review these roads and make them safer for our kids!!

We have 2 speed bumps on Huia, 1 of them was put in last year. (the one closest to the Countdown is in such a bad way it needs fixing) this has helped in the direct areas to the speed bumps but we we still get traffic speeding where there are no speed bumps. I beleive too many people use the road to escape the traffic from Point Chev Road and speed. Its so dangerous for all the children and amimals in the area. I'm sure if the police monitored it they would catch a lot of speeding cars in the space of a couple of hours.

93 Moa Road Point Chevalier I live next door to a hall used by children throughout the week toddlers through to school age. Cars frequently travel along Moa at high speed as a short cut from Meola to Great North Rd
