My girls school feeds them an all carb meal and the state calls it nutritious. It's ridiculous. My girls have both gained weight in this school district.

I am a parent and what they serve these children is rediculess! My child as attends Townview Magnet Center and EVERYDAY she comes home starving! I have other family members and friends with children in other surrounding districts that are feed much better then DISD. If you can't feed these babies a much better quality and quantity meal then maybe you should allow certain restaurants to come in and setup a food court of some kind much like the universities! How are they supposed to be able to focus and retain anything that they learn if they are not properly fueled to keep going thru out the day??!!!

This is a shame. High school students burn calories at a much higher rate than adults. Our students deserve better.

This is ridiculous. I'm a product of DISD Lincoln High School c/o 2013 & I know first hand how hard it was to focus in class on an empty stomach. I would be happy to help establish a standard nutrition plan & a team of people dedicated to putting decent food in our schools. It will be take a TEAM but I know there are people willing to do this! Mind you, DISD has to be willing to work with us & not against us as we are spending food money to fund the school district. & this is what you feed our children? Enough is enough, help us help our children. Otherwise the whole institution is blantantly oppressive because I've seen Highland Parks's school lunches!! & if that's the case... Well, you know how that goes... We might have to do what Highland Park did.

Students need more then just a "SNACK" to get them through their day. What are you going to do when they are still hungry in class and their stomachs are rumbling. How can you focus on your education when you haven't had enough to eat. What other schools do you all see treating their students this way? None. That should tell you something. This is a magnet school they worked hard to get there at least DISD can do is make sure they get a fulfilling lunch!

I'm a senior in the townview School of Business and Management and I have personally not even eaten in the cafeteria since my sophomore year because of the food quality and quantity decline.

I think that the lack of real food and nutrition is disturbing. Its been proven that when children eat good, they feel good about themselves and achieve more. DISD was nothing like what it is now when I was a teenager and I am only in my early 30's!!!! I shudder to think of the future for my 2 young sons. This is ridiculous as much as lunch as doubled since I've been in school and to be feeding kids this. This is another added reason why I will not send my kids to DISD. Get it together.
