Tracen Franklin an outstanding young man was a typical adolescence enjoying his life. Just 18 years old at the time of this incident. Tracen had just graduated high school and was a freshman at Alabama State University. Just a mere 3 years ago Tracen was on a track towards reaching his life's goal, which was to finish college and to play professional football.
However, while visiting home for the weekend Tracen attended a party and was involved in a fight in which a young man lost his life.
Yes, He made a mistake, had a lapse in judgment and was involved in a life altering situation..... But does that make him a killer?
Do you recall ever making a mistake? Do you remember thinking "I really messed up"? Well he did just that, he messed up, he never imagined that this could happen to him. However, should he pay for it with the rest of his life? Is it JUSTIFIABLE to Condemn him to Prison without ANY consideration for REFORM. ask yourself is there any REDEEMING QUALITY for a young man's FIRST OFFENSE, especially Tracen who had such a bright future ahead?
Tracen is the only one who ADMITTED to his role in this TRAGEDY, APOLOGIZED for his actions but yet he was the ONLY defendant out of four who faced the Death Penalty.
This is NOT JUSTICE.
Due in part to the overwhelming National Media Coverage the facts of the investigation were disheveled therefore Tracen's role was magnified and after enduring avery complex and lengthy trial Tracen received a sentence of LIFE W/O Parole in 2012, from a judge that could have shown leniency. However the media influenced the outcome.
WAKE UP PEOPLE,,,,, PRISON can not be the answer for every body....there has to be room for REDEMPTION!
We are soliciting your help because we need you…we need your help, so Tracen may have a voice! By donating to his defense fund you become a part of a community who believes that Tracen Franklin deserves a second chance and that he is not a threat to society.
Tracen now 22, has another chance due to SEVERAL motions filed on his behalf to dispute numerous trial errors, including inconsistent WITNESS TESTIMONY an questionable jury misconduct, Tracen has been granted a hearing in hopes of obtaining a NEW TRIAL. We stand in need of your immediate assistance so that Tracen Franklin can secure counsel for his new trial tentatively set for next February. Please help him. So that he will not continue to waste away in a system that does not care. Tracen is housed at Hays State Prison known as one "the worst prisons in Georgia" this facility is void of any educational or rehabilitation programs, there Tracen witnesses daily what real life criminals are and he is NOT one of them.
This young man is fighting for his LIFE......Will you help?

The increase in this petition's reach has secured a formal meeting with the district attorney's office to discuss the sentencing inconsistencies. We are currently drafting a legal brief that outlines the disparity in treatment between the defendants. My focus is now on presenting this direct evidence to the review board for formal consideration.

We are approaching one hundred signatures which serves as our baseline for delivering these files to the defense counsel. I am requesting that everyone here secures three additional signatures before the briefing session later this week.

Tracen deserves a second chance at freedom. He is one of the most caring people that I've had the chance to call a best friend. We all make mistakes. Who's to say we can't come back from them?
Prison is not the answer for many youths, and the sentence was really harsh for the crime.
Tracen has always been a humble young man, yes he made a mistake, but I don't feel that his life should be wasted because of that mistake. There is hope for Tracen, and I'm sure that a chance at a fair trial will highlight that.
Now those who really knew Tracen knows that he wouldn't want this for anyone. He is kind hearted and always willing to lend a hand. I truly hope the best for you Tracen cause im sure you where just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Keep your head up lil bro and ima defiantly keep you in my prayers.. Your Fam on the outside aint gave up one you, and we dont plan to either!!!
Justice
I Love Tracen,he is almost like a son to me and will forever be my nephew.I remember when he was born and has the world greatest mom. I really just could allow myself to believe this but it time I stop running and see what I can do to help. He is a very bright and respectable young man and I believe that if allowed he will do the right thing if released. I Love You Tracen and you are always covered in my prayers............ NICKIE
A mistake? Redemption? This THUG was involved in the fatal gang beating of an innocent boy who they chose at random. If he was was pursuing his collegiate dreams then why was he going to a high school party that he was not invited to and starting fights? Monique Rivarde will never be able to talk to or hug her son because of your son. Let him stay behind bars since he went out of his way to put himself there.

I have known this young mans family before he was born and he is a great kid that made a horrible mistake and I know that if he were given a second chance he would be a productive member of society
