In 1991, Frankie was involved in a ring of armed robberies. He was sentenced to 228-528 years in prison. No one was injured in any of the crimes. This sentence was handed down five years before the state of Ohio had a sentencing guideline. Frankie was 19 years old. In 2002, Frankie was at a very low and desperate place in life. Instead of asking for a second chance, he made a feeble attempt to create one. He was recorded advising someone, by phone, how to rob a bank. Again, no one was injured. Frankie received an additional 13 years for this offense. The accomplices in the crime were sentenced up 18 months. We recognize that there are consequences to every choice. However , the question is asked, how long and how much is too much? Federal sentencing guidelines have changed ,as well, since Frankie's sentence. With both sentences combined, Frankie will be approximately 73 years old when he is released. Frankie is now 39 years old and has served over 20 years. He has made better use of his time by obtaining his G.E.D. and becoming a member of the Toast Master Club ( program designed to teach you how to public speak.) He continues to participate in workshops and classes to better himself . He has become a model prisoner .This web petition is about a second chance. This time Frankie is asking for one. Frankie has applied for clemency in the state of Ohio. We, the family, unite with him in his request for a second chance . We believe there are others that are willing to support and join us. There is still power in numbers and the voice of the people. Please unite with us and give this story wings. Please sign, share it , spread it and pray about it! I am currently preparing a formal packet of these signatures for the parole board. The feedback from readers regarding Frankie's disproportionate sentencing has been overwhelming.

While Frankie's plight is a sad commentary, he is unfortunately representative of many other young men of color who are sentenced unfairly and victimized by the laws that are established to protect us. My prayers go out to he and his family and others who are now or who have in the past endured similar circumstances.
He has been in long enough. Many murders do not spend this much time behind bars.
We all agree that there remains inequity of justice that largely affects minorities and or people of color. Disparities in sentencing go unchecked, while many like Frankie, are converted from so called "offenders" to actual victims of the same "system," at the hands of those handing down obviously biased and overly excessive sentences. In contrast I ask, "who are the real offenders?". We all must stand united and extend our hand of support to Frankie and those alike. Let's join together and lift our voices in a harmoniously peaceful, educated, and informed manner and do our part to eradicate a system of "Just'us" that allows for such a miscarriage of "Justice!"
Frankie, is human just like all of us, God is a forgiving God with much grace and mercy...let's have heart and compassion for this man. The system we are suppose to seek and trust in being fair has been brutally unfair. This mans life and freedom has been stolen,. FREE FRANKIE PORTER
Well I have recently meet Frankie he's a good person with a wonderful heart. I feel he's ready for our world I feel he's a change man. We as ppl make mistakes and as we get older we learn from them.

Nobody deserve that much years in prisson for the crime he commited thats way to much nobody lives that long thats messed up

It is my hope that Frankie is given opportunity to become a productive member of society while he is still in his prime. The community would benefit more from Frankie's contributions during his youth! It's unjust to keep anyone incarcerated beyond the time it takes to pay retribution. Further, his brothers were granted freedom and they serve testimony to excellent character and stewardship to new lives. They will help Frankie readjust, as they did for each other, and Frankie will be an exemplary individual.
