Every year Toastmaster's club assign proxies and they elect the next board of directors. The club leaders are excluded from Q&A sessions and they don't know well the candidates and their values which makes extremely difficult for the clubs to choose to whom should they vote for.

On line voting system is trivial to be implemented nowadays and it's not so expensive.

As a club leader i want to actively participate in electing the board of directors. Therefore i move the motion for WHQ to create an on-line voting platform where each club can cast their vote and each candidate can actively participate by answering club leaders questions till 2018.

Updates

September 13, 2016

I have been in contact with several club leaders who share the frustration regarding our current lack of transparency during the election process. The current system of proxy voting remains an outdated barrier that prevents individual clubs from making informed decisions about our leadership. I am currently drafting a formal proposal to present these concerns to the regional representatives.

September 13, 2016

The steady growth of this petition shows a clear demand for more transparency in our leadership elections. It is encouraging to see so many club leaders recognize that direct participation is essential for the health of our organization.

It certainly makes sense to rethink the way the toastmasters decision process remains in some way democratically grounded in the clubs. A direct vote could be an possibility. It is also important to have informed and interested electors. My opinion is that it would already help a lot if the handover to next club executive is after the world toastmasters convention rather than right before, as now.

Direct voting is democratic and thousands of companies make this easy for their shareholders, the same can be done by TI.

Why is it that less than 500 individuals seem to have more power than the over 16000 clubs? Online voting needs to be in place within a year to make our organisation more democratic.

I found the dark side of the ToastMasters. And I believe it can be improved. More about the dark side -> http://www.alexhristov.com/tmfaq.jsp
