At the 2016 International Convention, Toastmasters International made changes to the World Championship of Public Speaking. Starting 2018, district winners will compete in a "quarterfinals" with the winners advancing the semifinals.
This quarterfinals will be done via video and not live in person. This differs from every other level of the contest. The club, area, division, district, semifinals, and finals will be live and in person competitive rounds of the World Championship of Public Speaking.
This petition is to ask Toastmasters International to reconsider this decision of a quarterfinals via video and allow it to be like every other round of the contest--live and in person.

THIS MOMENTUM IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE AND IT SHOWS THAT WE ARE ALL UNITED IN WANTING THE REAL STAGE EXPERIENCE BACK!! THE ENERGY BEHIND THIS MOVEMENT IS GROWING EVERY SINGLE DAY AND IT PROVES JUST HOW MUCH THIS COMPETITION MEANS TO ALL OF US!!

I don't understand the reasoning behind this move and feel that it takes away from the audience interaction that any good speaker should gauge while speaking.
Video speaking is a totally different skill set. Keep the world champions live and in person.
We should not mix and match. If Toastmasters wants to introduce a new competition based on video submissions, they can compete together. But, the current process of live presentations creates a level playing field for everyone. Please rescind the decision to allow competition by video at any level of competition. Thank you.
The camera adds an unfair advantage to districts with more money and better tech talent. It also adds 15 pounds,
Contests should be live. Video contest will allow a person to redo the video until it is perfect. This negates the ability to overcome nervousness while competing.
As others have said - many who have competed, and even won, in the finals of the WCPS - this proposed step is at odds with the nature of Toastmasters, and the nature/consistency of this contest.. I support this petition, and supporting finding the way to keep this a live event - in all rounds.
I am strongly opposed to this move, and wonder how something so important can have been decided without consulting members.

As soon as event planners, conference coordinators and convention speaker bureau's accept an invoice for a video presentation as opposed to a live one, I will then agree with this decision.
