We the undersigned believe that the "Titirangi Three" have been unfairly excluded from the Titirangi Rudolf Steiner School. It cannot be right to exclude a whole family from any school because they have brought issues of bullying to light. Two out of the three children were not even in the class where the bullying was taking place. We believe that the family should be re-instated in the school immediately with a full public apology. Re-instatement is an admission of wrong-doing towards the children and gives a family back the choice they originally made. It does not necessarily imply that the children would attend the school, It is simply the only way for the school to undo the rejection they have caused to the children, and a logical consequence of a genuine apology. Re-instatement is the only believable evidence of a willingness to change. The children would not attend that school unless they and we were absolutely convinced that the necessary changes had taken place, Although this would not be easy, we would not write it off entirely as we would always have preferred to work with the school, and were trying to, under difficult circumstances, to make it the safe environment for children that is advertised. We also believe in forgiveness. The school must in any case take firm steps to eradicate bullying in the school without victimising bullied children and their families in future.
