We believe there is a better way then the one presented to the State of Michigan Board of Education that is summarized in the Board’s memo on February 23, 2016 and will be voted on May 10, 2016. The issues facing our nation and our country are serious ones. For those in the LGBTQ community, these issues are greater and need better solutions than those presented in the memo. We believe the direction laid out in this plan in it’s entirety, has not proven in other states to meet the goals of the State Board of Education (SBE) nor the Michigan Department of Education (MDE). We believe there is a better way. The first step is to have this proposal stopped and the concerns of the LGBTQ community viewed with objectivity versus just putting things in place and hoping for the best.

The thought of a male being able to use the same bathroom as myself and my daughters is horrifying to me. The same goes for my son,he would not be comfortable with a female being in such a private place as a bathroom with him. Because someone decides they want to change gender doesn't make them that gender. It's not morally ok.

My husband and I don't believe this is a sufficient resolution for those who are confused. It does not help, it only makes things worse for all concerned.

Our state clearly does not let those under 16 drive, under 18 vote or under 21 to drink based on neurological science that supports brain development in minors. That very science and peer pressure are the reasons not to support the current draft of LGBTQ.

There has to be a better way. Keep our children safe. This will open a door of endangerment for our daughters. Males with the males and ladies with the ladies. There needs to be a better solution.

The only GOOD place for ''unisex/gender free'' restrooms (or locker rooms) is in our OWN homes. We try to teach them about privacy and to respect their bodies when we feel it is ''age appropriate''. This is the job of the parent...NOT the government or schools!

I should have a say and knowledge as to what my child is doing about his gender NOT THE BOARD OF EDUCATION! You are trying to take away my rights as a parent. ITS NOT YOUR JOB to tell my son he can be a girl or someone's daughter that she can be a boy. Stick to education. You will destroy lives if this becomes a law in Michigan.

I strongly disagree with the idea of men and women being in opposite bathrooms. The state had non rights to redefine what make and female is. Not at all. Bathrooms have been designed so people can feel comfortable and safe. This new law would change that. Men with male anatomy should Never be allowed into a women's restroom. It is not hatred. It is common sense and also the need t keep women and children safe. Anyone could claim they are transgender to gain access to the ladies room where they could hurt women and children. Someone's feeling about their gender do not trump the safety and sexier it of anyone. Vote this down. Please.
