As many of you know, Braden, Daniel, and Jon got in trouble in Costa Rica for partying with some of the native Maleku. Even though they were assured by the teachers on their trip that everything was going to be okay, they all received a modified expulsion by Ms. Howard when they returned home. This means that they will get a diploma, but will have independent study for the remainder of the year and be banned from campus and all school activities including graduation. Colleges will also be notified of their punishment, this will jeopardize almost all of their acceptances. This punishment is extremely harsh, completely unreasonable and inconsistent with any other punishment Kehillah has ever given. It is clear that this punishment is a result of Rustic Pathways involvement in this situation because as we all know, Kehillah would never do something like this unless pressured by an outside source. It is not acceptable that our friends and classmates will have their future adversely affected by this ridiculous decision. Putting the future of these students in jeopardy in order to prove a point is deplorable. Instead of teaching them to learn from their mistakes, the school will be ruining their future by taking the most extreme measure for a first offense. We ask that this incident not go on their official transcripts so as to not destroy their college prospects.
