The studio has officially confirmed that the extended footage will be restored and released for public viewing. This outcome is a direct result of the persistence shown by all 566 individuals who signed this petition. I encourage you to monitor official announcements for the upcoming release details.
The groundswell of interest in seeing the original vision for this film is growing beyond my initial expectations. This movement proves that the audience still holds a genuine desire for restorative film preservation.

The persistence of this movement continues to validate the belief that audiences value cinematic preservation. I am currently researching archival contacts to determine if the original source material remains viable for a potential release. Your patience is appreciated as these inquiries take time to yield concrete results.

Read to novelization and LOVED it. I was confused why so much was missing from the film. Seeing this get released, even completing effects on the cheap, would be a fulfillment of of something i've longed for for 20 years.

I loved the trailer for this, watched it so many times, and half the trailer isn't in the film! I've always wanted to see the uncut version.

That 20 years have passed and Warners have still not seen fit to issue this film as it should have been released is very sad. It's a better film than the hack-job edit from 1998 suggests. Would buy a Director's Cut in an instant.

I won't necessarily extoll the virtues of The Avengers, because that's always fallen on deaf ears. However, one indisputable fact is that countless films, far worse than The Avengers, have found their way onto swanky, extras-filled dvd & blu-rays over the years, so why hold back on this one when there's certainly an appetite for it.

I'd definately ONLY buy the Blu-ray of it was the Director's Cut. A compete travesty that this film was butchered to pieces upon its release. Jeremiah Chechik should be allowed to come back and cut it HIS way, like so many other directors are getting the chance to do with a lot of the latest Blu-rays.

Despite its flaws, I enjoy The Avengers (1998) and would love to see the original version, which I believe ran 115 mins, about 20 mins longer. It's annoying to think that a better version of the movie exists somewhere out there, a version of the film that was originally intended to be released, the version of the film that the cast and crew thought they were making, and yet fans like me might never get to see it. Seems like such a waste.
