Despite its flaws, I enjoy The Avengers (1998) and would love to see the original version, which I believe ran 115 mins, about 20 mins longer. It's annoying to think that a better version of the movie exists somewhere out there, a version of the film that was originally intended to be released, the version of the film that the cast and crew thought they were making, and yet fans like me might never get to see it. Seems like such a waste.

Jeremiah chechik’s original vision deserves To be avenged! Even if it’s just a limited supply release (ie only like 1000+ DVDs/Blu-rays) The people deserve to hear the whole story, particularly The Directors side, so we can better assess for ourselves, whether the original cut was truly as ‘disastrous’ as WB sabotaged it to appear.
Since 1998 other films that were initially perceived as flops or straight up, disaster, have gotten a second life upon further reevaluation in their true version and I don’t see why the avengers can’t receive the same treatment. Just a few examples include:
Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner (produced by WB) received THREE versions altogether (including theatrical) The last one being the 2003 Final Cut approved directly by Scott himself.
Shout factory released poltergeist III with all the deleted scenes as a special features (Which were initially thought lost or destroyed since 1988 only to be found in some obscure warehouse storage facility in Washington state of all places). Although produced by MGM studios at the time of its release WB was ultimately responsible for its eventual approval/allowing shout factory to access the available materials and release its special edition.
Recent examples include David Ayer's cut of suicide squad 2016 —Which is rumored to be released down the road — and the Zack Snyder JL situation which has proven very successful among fans and casual viewers
Other studio examples include:
The producers cut of alien 3 (although David Fincher chose not to get involved, the general idea of his directors cut was nonetheless salvaged (thanks to the studio owning up to its mistakes)
Even obscure/forgotten films have gotten better treatment When it comes to special features (Vinegar syndrome’s restoration of the birds II: lands end).
All in all there is zero reason why WB can’t allow the avengers to be avenged after nearly 30 years. If it’s a matter of corporate ego preventing its release, then the power

Please WB release the directors cut fully intact the way it was originally meant to be! It’s time for the crimes committed against this film to be *AVENGED*!
Otherwise If the studio doesn’t wish to be associated with the project any longer or take the time to oversee its restoration, by all means just hand the related materials over to a company like shout factory (which is more than willing to tackle this type of property) and let someone else step up to the plate to do it proper justice!
WB, STOP allowing decades’ old corporate power tripping tactics (I’m looking at you, Terry Semel, former head of WB, Responsible for creating this mess to begin with) continue to unfairly tarnish an otherwise decent film.
GRANT JEREMIAH CHECHIK FULL CREATIVE CONTROL BY ALLOWING HIM TO RESTORE HIS VISION and LET WE THE PEOPLE DECIDE FOR OURSELVES HOW SATISFACTORY THE FINAL CUT IS !
Do for this film, what you allowed Ridley Scott to finally showcase with his Blade Runner cut.

I watched The Avengers in the cinema, back in 1998, and my 16 year old self enjoyed it, for what it was.
Fast forward to 2022, as a 39 year old, re-watching the film and discovering that it was drastically shortened, I agree with members of the community, that Warner Bros' cuts had made the film feel very broken and inconsistent in many places.
The only cut I would agree with, is the racist line: "How now, brown cow", which was cut from the film in it's original pre-title credits sequence, used in the film's official trailer, and used again in the final release, when Steed and Peel start to descend in an elevator, later in the film.
This is the era, where fans can openly communicate with directors, producers, cast and nearly all crew members involved in their favourite films, on social media. Laws also change, to allow complete movies to be released after their initial home media run.
There have been successful, uncut releases of films that were censored, or edited in the past, such as Lara Croft Tomb Raider, Casino Royale, X-Men Days of Future Past: The Rogue Cut, and Zack Snyder's Justice League. Although the Avengers isn't as popular, respecting the art form is important to many moviegoers, including myself.
Film degradation is a factor, as more time passes, and there are incredible technologies available at present, to ensure The Avengers can live for many more decades. For over a year, the Director of the movie, Jeremiah Chechik, has openly offered to restore the film in the editing suite, free of charge.
I hope that Warner Bros will consider releasing a Director's Uncut 4K & Blu-Ray version of The Avengers, for all to enjoy, as it was originally intended. There is ample time to prepare & complete such a project, before the film's 25th Anniversary, in 2023.
It is time to let go of bias and embarrassment, and a time for second chances. Please give The Avengers a chance to shine, on it's own.

Someone at Warner sabotaged this movie from the get go. It never had a chance. And it was previewed in the worst possible scenario -- in Phoenix with a largely Hispanic audience. Another bad decision. There needs to be a director's cut version of this film so it can be restore to what Patrick Macnee called "the best Avengers script he had ever seen. Warner, you do it for much worse films. This deserves far better.

THE AVENGERS (1998)
I have a, genuine love for this movie. I know its flawed, but worst movie ever made?
The truth is, Warner Bros hacked this movie to bits before releasing it. They cut out, around a third of its run time, loosing most of the plot and coherence. This, is something Warner is known for, they have done it to plenty of movies including, Superman: The Movie, Batman Forever, Lost in Space and more recently Justice League. Anyway, genre films make them nervous and this was an odd one. A stylish, spy film based on a show, mostly known in the UK, made up off references and gags, only fans would get. This, did not feel like the summer blockbuster, they wanted, so they recut it until it was. Or at least, until it wasnt the artsy genre flick, only fans would watch. Remember, this was the 90s, genre fair was still considered to be trash. In the end, they were wrong, the movie was an epic flop and anyone who had seen the original cut, bemoaned the loss of a masterpiece. Even original Steed, Patrick MacNee called it the best Avengers script, he had ever worked on. Over the years, Director Jeremiah S. Chechik has offered Warner Bros, too recut the film for free, but they have always turned him down. It's not likely, that we will ever see the original cut of the The Avengers, but it sure is sad and a waste of so much work.
So I still love this movie, even in it's current broken state and think it deserves revaluation.
