As an Amarillo resident, you have most likely been to the Amarillo Zoo. If so, you have undoubtedly see the precarious situation the animals currently reside in. With little to no water, no shade, small cages, and no ability to clean and groom themselves, these animals are miserable! Please sign this petition so that we can draw attention to this problem and force the city to provide better treatment and a better life for these animals.

I have spent this week reviewing the messages many of you left detailing your personal observations at the zoo. These accounts affirm that the current state of these enclosures is not merely an opinion but a shared concern for the well being of the animals. I am currently organizing these stories into a formal briefing for city officials.

Reaching this level of support suggests that our community cares deeply about the dignity of the animals at our local zoo. It is encouraging to see so many people acknowledge that these living creatures deserve far better conditions than what we currently see.

Amarillo you've got to step up or close down your zoo. Its an embarrassment to your great city. Small cages, no water, bloody animals.... Who is in charge? Why aren't they going public screaming for more funding? Who's the on call vet? I really hate to say this bit if the city can't do any better maybe its time to close the zoo. Your not doing the public a service by providing animals in cramped cages without drinking water. Shame on Amarillo.
Completely agree! I don't take my kids to the zoo anymore because of the state the animals are in. This is cruelty! Amarillo has almost 200,000 residents, you think they'd want to take better care of the animals and update the place for guests, workers and animals can enjoy being there. Guess not.
Wow just wow they don't do there job like they should or take care of stuff that they need to! I was going to take me kids but now I'm stay away till they do what is best for the animals that thay have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's really sad that the city officials can worry about down town and a new baseball statium. However you allow our zoo to go to hell and the animals to be abused and neglected with out water and proper living quarters. You all should be ashamed.
