Vendors don't twiddle their thumbs on non-market days. Planting, weeding, watering, and especially harvesting the produce we have grown with great care for you is a full-time job. Animal care is also a full-time job. Bakers and chefs are also busy all week preparing food for you. Our market days are actually our days OFF. This is a market based 100% on vendors who grow, make or bake their products themselves. The creator of this petition appears to not understand the concept of local food, unlike the vast majority of SFM customers who truly understand the amount of work involved. The Calgary Farmers' Market is a glorified grocery store because it imports its products from elsewhere. If you want a grocery store, there are plenty to choose from in Saskatoon. Out of respect for the hard-working vendors at this market, please delete this disrespectful petition. Alternatively, feel free to volunteer 60 hours a week of your time to assist vendors in being at the market six days a week. Thank you.

Honestly it's time to change the provincial govt . This is a very wealthy province, but we give away the wealth. Leaving the city to sell valuable property to create temporary income. We give away 1000 million every year to the potash industry. And they don't need it... Really.

they need to start including direct sellers...or pop up shops....the place would be packed. Perhaps a local band or lunch time entertainment or Friday savoir faire. I would love to participate once or twice a month with Caleighs Crystals. I do actually make a few of my items but most is imported. Check us out on Facebook.

Interesting comments. As one of the only vendors so far to comment I am certainly sticking my neck out.
The market has become a destination for people to enjoy the beauty, the socializing and the entertainment. Does that translate into more revenue for the vendors? Do people understand that this is a make it, bake it and grow it market? Do you recognize the financial needs of the vendors of the market if they were forced to go beyond the present 2 or 3 days? Compare us to Calgary? Certainly, when our population has grown in equal numbers.
Let's here from you supporters of more market days and longer hours on how we get more support from the population of Saskatoon. Please don't say "more vendors, more variety". We need more support from the community.
Personally I witness Sunday as the tire kicker day. As one vendor said to me "you can say hi to them and maybe they will say hi back. But more often than not, they ignore you". Realize how much of an effort goes into being at the market and then we can talk about getting bigger.

...keep growing! Sask is the heart of agriculture and used to be the heart of the family farm...the last 30 years has ALMOST killed the family farm. This is a step back to that healthy life. Do not give up.

Love this place, needs to allow more local artisans and producers to have access to the public throughout the week. Thank you!

I think it would not just benefit Saskatoon and area to have a more available market, but also the tourism scene. I have worked at the market in the past and there was an alarming number of tourists, who were disappointed to find the market itself draped and empty.

They do need to grow in my 5 years of being/ working at the market I've seen alot of farmers leave abd is sad. It needs fresh blood and new ideas and more vendors. They have a ton of vendor application but refuse to give them a chance. Because of politics and clicks. It's time for change. Oh and more events

It would be great if there were one or two days during the week where the market was open into the evening, perhaps until seven or eight pm. I would certainly pop in after work for my groceries and beer if that were the case...
