The council has officially approved our application to list the Romney Huts as an asset of community value. I am overwhelmed by the result after all the uncertainty we faced. Now the real work of building our creative hub begins so stay tuned for what comes next.

The Romney huts Studios and Gallery are under threat from the Council selling the site and we would like you to be part of our petition to nominate the unit as a asset of community value. If you have been to the studios, visited an exhibition or used the space please sign and show support to help us to redevelop it into a creative hub for Herefordshire creatives! I have spent hours reading through your accounts of the exhibitions and workshops that defined your time at the Romneys. These stories remind me exactly why I cannot let this site disappear into the hands of developers who see only land instead of our shared history.

Seeing this kind of momentum feels surreal because I remember when the Romney huts were just a quiet corner of the neighborhood that I worried nobody else noticed. Knowing that so many of you value this creative space as much as I do gives me the fuel to keep fighting the council on this.

To remove this place would erode the cultural landscape of Herefordshire. It’s a hidden gem that forms part of the fabric of our local community.
The Romney huts are part of Hereford own culture and these are under threat. I have been using unit 46 as an art space for the last 7 years, there is nowhere in the locality that would of allowed such a constructive space such these units
I fully support this project, it’s a great opportunity to keep for Hereford artists now and in the future . The Romney huts are are a unique asset
In these times of uncaring and violent societies the creative practises restore an essential humanity to everyday people and a nations culture is what it is measured against
The Romney studios and gallery gives opportunity for artists to make and share work on an ambitious scale. And to consider art in contexts other than a 'white cube'. It is valuable as a venue for aspiring creatives and established artists alike - providing insight and a vantage point. An inspiring resource which needs to be protected.
