As implemented on January 1 2017 consisting of four monthly rotations in total Crane and Rigging schedule applies itself unequally within the department and and within Austals shifts system as outlined within Austals employee handbook. As outlined on pages 58 and 59 five shift shedules are supplied "five day ten and eight hour shifts monday thru friday (day and night) , three day twelve hour shift friday thru sunday" throughout the company. We undersigned understand the temporary accommodations that were necessary to preform the workload on weekends within the Crane and Rigging Department but feel the new shift system wherein employees are rotated to work satudays and sundays has created difficulties. Scheduling throughout the week has not been equally assigned between employees some only working one weekend day. Morale throughout the department has suffered as a result of no shift changes being scheduled in future schedules and frequent lack of man power throughout the workweek. As outlined on page 62 of the Austal employee handbook it states" When shift rotation is no longer required by business conditions and regular shift assignments are available opportunities to change shifts will be posted".
