The police need more training to deal with someone that is mentally ill. I myself believe that the police should have a psychiatrist available to deal with a mentally ill person the police are not trained for this and that the police use every possible means before they go to using deadly force. And by that I mean trying to talk to the person into giving up if that doesn't work try using non-lethal measures such as your taser bean bag gun tear gas and if that does not work use non-lethal shots shoot the person in the leg or in the shoulder and after all those things have been exhausted then they can go to using deadly force but I still believe that they need to have a psychiatrist on hand where the police are trying to handle an incident with a mentally ill person the psychiatrist should be there to talk to the person.
