The parents of Bridlington School children should have the right to buy school trousers or skirts without logos from whichever retailer they see fit.

Sorry but is the problem really the girls dress not men with a dirty imagination?

Many parents will only be able to afford one pair of trousers for £20! What happens when they rip midweek and parents cant get to the ONE shop that sells them? The child will be put in a isolation room and treat like a criminal due to this disgusting rule!

Isnt the whole point of this country democracy? Mrs Pashley is doing the complete opposite! She is dictating where parents buy their uniform from, she has said there is only one shop where parents are 'allowed' to buy from, parents should be able to buy from where they please. For one pair of trousers it is £20! Thats riduclous! Another thing is the skirts, your punishing the victims! If the male teachers are 'uncomfortable' and are 'attracted' to a pair of students legs i highly sugguest you sack them!

Isn't this discrimination against girls? If a girl feels comfortable in a skirt during the summertime then let her be, a pair of legs are not distracting to learning and if you think it is then it's a problem really

I read the news article that your school is planning to ban skirts because male teachers feel uncomfortable about this, and i am disgusted and i hope this comment is read by the headteacher. What you are planning to do is is totally wrong. There is nothing sexual about a pair of legs and it seems that you are choosing to look at what a girl wears in a dirty way. If you choose to sexualize a girl based on what she wears, then you are the problem and not them. Summer is coming up and skirts are appropriate for this weather but you are telling female students they cannot dress comfortably because you choose to see it as provocative. Stop discriminating against women and rather then tell girls to cover up, tell the male teachers and students to get some self control because legs should not make you feel uncomfortable.

I don't believe it's fair for schools to have monopolies with independent retailers. In any other business this would be unfair practice.

This is absolutely appalling! Young girls have periods and at the start they can be irregular. Many use skirts to hide any potential embarrassment. The male teacher needs to be taught how to interact with growing girls, or is everything to be banned, just in case he,- not the kids,- might feel anxious.

Please also write a letter to Ms Pashley voicing your concerns so we can overturn the decision as according to the letter i have received today from her she has only received 2 letters and 27 telephone calls and the other letter was from my neighbour who also received a response today

The problem isnt only the skirts its the price of £20 for the trousers?! This is far too expensive. Its not that some familys cant afford it - its a waste of money! You can buy boys school trousers from tesco for £6/£7! From what ive heard the K&A trousers are bad quality and rip within a week.

its expensive enough to buy uniforms. Only being able to buy uniforms from one or two shops enables the shops to fix prices.

So wrong girls should have the choice

Never have I heard of such a ridiculous rule. Male teachers complaining about the shortness of girl's skirts just represents how girls are sexualised in today's society. If she is too 'young' to wear such a short skirt, then she is too young for you to be sexualising her. Female or male, you should be allowed to wear the standard school uniform in Britain which includes Jumper, blazer, trousers AND skirt, regardless of gender. If male teachers are sexualising LEGS, I don't even want to know what else they think.

Having attended a school which enforced a skirt/tight trouser ban, I know exactly the negative impact it has.

The teachers should have a uniform as well, they are suppous to be good examples for the students to look up to. The female teachers wear skinny dresses, short skirts, skin tight tops, high heals etc. I dont want my children to look up to that! My daughter normally wears knee length skirts yet she still got told her skirt was too short as her skirt had rolled up half an inch as she had been walking up some stairs! I showed my collegues her school photos and they said how smart she looked. One of my friends, who also has a daughter at bridlington school, got told by a teacher that they dont allow skinny trousers or skirts as 'male teachers may feel uncomfortably attracted to students'. We where both outraged a teacher would say such a thing!
