Adding charges for children to access what should be a basic human need for health and development both physically and socially growing up means that parents who are already on tight budgets would be stretched even further. If they can't play sports then what else will they have left to do now the swimming pools are also closed but to gather on the streets leading to antisocial behaviour that could add more of a cost to the council in the long run. That is on top of the potential cost in future years for treating people from the increase in obesity and its associated health problems.

With the current stats on childhood obiesity we should be encouraging sports participation in the community not putting financial pressure on these clubs to pay fees and therefore decrease these awesome dedicated clubs!

this is disgraceful. RCT needs to sort this out and allow sports teams to carry on using pitches for free. Take the dole money from the local junkies instead

it will be the death of many sides .how do you keep the youngsters off the streets when the council are doing this .and where did 34 home games come into it for one team i wonder ,do your calculations again !!!

2012 Olympic Legacy they said. Inspire kids to be the next sports stars. Now they're pretty much getting rid of the only way kids can get into sports.

we need to save Saturday and Sunday league football. a large part of my youth was playing football and still now. what are kids supposed to do instead? shocking from rct
