Growing up in Sherbrooke his whole life, David Vasil could always be found at the baseball field. From the time he could walk we would guess. Dave is as much a part of that field as any dugout or home plate or fence could ever be. Anyone who knows Veg, knows he had heart, and lots of it!! How else could you be that bad ass growing up with a nick name like veggie? Any time anything went on at the baseball field Dave was sure to be close by as he only lived steps away. From the time he was a child and could carry a bat he was there and ready to give it his all.
The baseball field that exist there today in Sherbrooke has long been a gathering place, for friends and family , fireworks, car shows, and baseball games. The community owes a lot to this field, it is one of the places where we all grew up as kids. The lessons we learn on the field can well suit us in life as Dave "Veg" Vasil demonstrated with his hard work and dedication and tenacity that brought him a great ability to play baseball and become a well respected man amongst his peers, co workers, and his community.

I knew dave he helped me learn to be a better baseball player in all respects of the game and i think this is a great honour that should be given in his rememberence.
Dave was a very gifted ball player and just a great person. He touched as many Albertans as he did maritimers and this would be a fantastic memorial
So fitting since his father played a huge part in building this field - often out by himself in rain or shine working diligently on the field
I grew up playing on many sports teams with and against Veg and he was an absolute softball fanatic. Would love to see this get passed and would %100 support it.
