The city finally confirmed the full demolition plans for The 3 Arts site. Driving past those crumbling walls always hurt, but knowing that change is coming provides such relief for our neighborhood.

Final supporters
The 3 Arts theatre, once the home of top international theatre for Capetonians and visitors in the 60's, 70's and 80's and brainchild of entertainment entrepreneur, Ronnie Quibell, saw stars visiting our city, like Tom Jones,Engelbert Humperdink,Rolf Harris, Lucille Starr and Suzi Quattro, and later, Uriah Heep and Deep Purple, to name but a few.
Sadly those days have long gone and what's left is a derelict site with a huge block of a building in a state of total disrepair. It's an eyesore and brings down the look and feel of a suburb in our wonderful city.
This petition will serve to bring to the attention of the owners and City officials, the number of locals who are in support of the site being radically restored or demolished for a more appropriate development that is attractive and beneficial to those of us residents living in proximity or visiting the area.

Seeing 250 people back this effort reminds me how many of us miss the spirit this block once held. I remember the energy of those nights so clearly and it hurts to see the decay sitting there in our neighborhood. Your support proves that I am not the only one who refuses to watch this site crumble into nothing.

I drove past the site again this morning and the decay feels even more insulting to the history of our neighborhood. I am currently compiling a dossier of your experiences so the city board cannot ignore the negative impact this ruin has on our daily lives.

This theatre is unsightly and is a haven for vagrants, who frequesnt the area, leaving a mess behind and who in bad weather light fires, thus creating a fire hazard. it needs to be demolished.
One does not need to keep the building to keep the memories. A small shopping complex would be the ideal development, especially bearing in mind the number of elderly residents in the immediate vicinity.
as a child i went to three arts and remember my parents attending live shows it would be a travesty to see this building demolished rather restore it to its former glory as i hold fond memorys of my family working for the Quibels and it is a hertage site for people that grew up in this area
I am an owner at Urban Spin and wholeheartedly agree that the property needs a total upgrade as it devalues the current surrounding properties as it serves no purpose at all.
Unfortunately I look onto the back of the site and more often than not the scrap heap of rubbish and rubble is the first thing I see in the morning. I would prefer to have a viable business / residential complex as a neighbour.
Please restore it .it's a piece of history

Despite my very close association with the 3 Arts Theatre in the first few years of its existence, it is now run down, the gathering place of undesirables and appears derelict. Either renovate after discussion with local ratepayers or demolish the eyesore.
