The local planning department confirmed our land designation will remain for community recreation in the new official plan. We successfully blocked the proposed rezoning to residential use through formal submissions and direct meetings with the planning committee. Our executive board will keep monitoring the property lease agreements to ensure the …

Please Sign the TRGC petition to show your support for the current use of property leased by the Terrace Rod and Gun Club as a community and regional recreation center for the shooting sports.

What is the OCP and why should the members of the TRGC be concerned?

The Official community plan will set the zonation, land use planning of present and future use of both crown and private lands in Thornhill.

We currently hold a 10 year lease on the largest piece of crown land in Thornhill.

The old community plan has this area listed as community recreational and low density residential.

We need to make sure that the new plan does not impact our club’s ability to use this property as a Rod and Gun club.

Let’s make sure the speculators and developers have to look elsewhere for places to build more subdivisions.

The Terrace Rod and Gun club has been part of the community of Thornhill since 1956 As members of the TRGC you are all stakeholders in this process, even though some of you may not live in Thornhill. Your executive encourages you to speak up and let the Planners know that the land the that the Rod and Gun club and Archery club occupy is best suited to be used for community recreation and not developed as another residential subdivision. Sign the TRGC petition to show your support for the continued use of property leased by the Terrace Rod and Gun Club as a community and regional recreation center for the shooting sports.

WHY GET INVOLVED?

This is your opportunity to tell local government the need to protect greenspaces and recreation facilities from development for now and for generations to come.

Also please take the time to fill out the Regional district's survey http://fluidsurveys.com/s/thornhill/

Community Surveys - will be available online on the Regional District’s website www.rdks.bc.ca and through Facebook. Hard copies will also be available at the Regional District office and other strategic locations throughout.

Thank you

Terrace Rod & Gun Club Executive.

We have reached one hundred signatures which provides the necessary leverage to formally request a meeting with local planning committee members. I am currently drafting a letter to the planning department to express our position on the proposed zonation changes.

Please find another location for residential use. This club has been in operation since the mid 50's and is a valuable resource for the outdoor enthusiasts of the Terrace area. I live in Kitimat and am surprised that this is being considered with all the open undeveloped land in Terrace.

I have been a member of this club since 1980 and have been proud of the support our club has provided to other groups looking for an outdoor experience. We operate year round and provide safe and central training area for many government agencies and businesses,

Please leave the rod and gun club alone my family has been using the rang for many generations it is the best place for kids to go learn about gun safety biathlon and archery. It is not just a gun club it is a community every one is like family.

this facility at one time was used to train Air Cadets on gun safety and correct usage. they teach you how to respect your weapon. its where we practice for the CORE program. too many benefits for community members to ignore

This site is best suited as a gun range to serve the greater Thornhill region. It has in it`s recent past hosted three International Defensive Pistol Association B.C. Provincial Pistol Championships. with competitors coming from as far away as Ontario and Washington State.

Marlene Di Leta Prince Rupert, B.C. I am getting into shooting a compound bow and Terrace Rod and Gun Club is the closest place for me to go to because they have a proper range. We also have 10 junior kids that would love to shoot trap.
