Columbia MO is the town that it is because of the way that small business owners are able to conduct a thriving business. The fact that the city of Columbia would try to put in place an ordinance that has been showed to have little to no effect on safety, but would most certainly negatively impact small business owners, is a really sad attempt to cover their own hides. We are incredibly lucky to have a caliber of community that exists in Columbia, and a huge part of that is being able to go out and socialize at our favorite local bars and restaurants.

I understand trying to keep people safe, especially in a college town that thrives on nightlife, but these restrictions will only hurt small local businesses that depend on weekly specials to get patrons into their establishments.

Big brother is watching doesn’t even begin to touch this measure. The Council sold out our lovely town years ago, and now they’re trying to control how we live. Ridiculous. Enough is enough.
