City Council yet again trying to find solutions to problems that aren’t problems. Leave small businesses alone and focus your energy elsewhere...like roads, city wide recycling efforts, homelessness and crime.

It is not the city's job to mimic the federal government in price fixing of an elastic commodity. There is never a legal need to price fix an elastic commodity.

This is unconstitutional and sets a dangerous legal precedent. A private business and a citizen of legal age should be able to enter into an agreement on a sale of alcohol or any good or service without Government intereference.

The City should be thankful for the revenue and quit trying to keep people at home. People go out, spend money and the city makes money. Take this away and it’s easier to stay home, businesses close and they city loses money. Uber, lyft, and cabs are highly popular.

Is this an idea of the new city manager?
And if the council gets their way, can they live with the lost tax revenue? Or maybe it's their longterm goal. Ban alcohol inside the city limits so they can raise the sales tax. That way EVERYBODY that does business in Columbia pays more. Not just those that used to consume alcohol.

If this bill passes, the students of Columbia will simply just go back to unsanctioned and unregulated house parties which are far more dangerous.
