Please stay away from drinking holes, and leave the laws as they were. Banning happy hours will only hurt local businesses.

As a working chef in Columbia, I'm standing in solidarity with the restaurateurs and businesses in this town. Prohibition won't change how people choose live, but it will affect the livelihood of the restaurant community.

Columbia needs to quit telling bars what hours they can and cannot serve and regulate prices! Sounds to me like some of the city owns or has shares in bars who want higher prices for drinks and trying to control other business because it is hurting their prices and business @ their bar!’

As someone who just turned 21 and is not the wealthiest man around, I work hard for my money and I dont get a lot of time in my week to spend any time on myself. That being said drink specials allow a lot of us to be able to go out meet new people and have a good time! This ordinance would not address any of the intended issues and is not fit for us in Columbia, Missouri!

I love to see my town grow and thrive. local businesses may decide to go elsewhere, or outside of city limits due to such regulations. I very rarely drink outside of my own home, but to me this screams go out earlier and get the specials and then people are drinking longer. therefore being more intoxicated and possibly attempting to drive. Leave the businesses alone. Our town has a lot more to worry about than alcohol specials!!!

I was born and raised here in Columbia. Former Mayor McDavid delivered me in 1978. I never thought Columbia would go the route it does. It priced me and my family out of city limits. They passed ignorant ordinances that won't allow certain voting ADULTS to buy cigaretts in city limits. Now they want to pass some nonsense because someone is on a high horse?! Leave Broadway alone! No more student housing downtown! Leave cheap beer alone!

This is an act of aggression by those that wish they had more fun in college. In other words, this is the real-life “Revenge of The Nerds” except for the fact that the nerds turn out to be the good guys. Make no mistake: these legislators are the bad guys.
