The city finally backed down and abandoned the roundabout plans. I have been running this store for a long time and the relief of knowing we can stay open is hard to put into words. Keep keeping an eye on the city council because I know I will be.

The City of Elmira is in process of planning to construct a Roundabout directly south of our Business, Savino's Liquor & Wine. This Roundabout will directly affect our business in numerous ways! If completed, It will eliminate much of our already limited ON STREET parking directly in front of our store. We do not own the parking lot just North of us and there is no guarantee that this will be available for customer parking. (The city also has potential plans which may also jeopardize on street parking north of our store, leaving us with almost no parking at all) Even more so, we also feel it will create a confusing intersection, which people may avoid completely, therefore driving business elsewhere. There is also a proposed 6-10 month construction phase where our customers at times may not have easy access, or access at all to our store.

We have been in Business as a Liquor Store in Downtown Elmira for over 40 YEARS! This plan for a Roundabout greatly jeopardizes our future to run a successful business and grow.

Last time we checked, Elmira was trying to bring business Downtown and make it flourish again, not drive out the established businesses already here! Please SIGN our petition here OR in store to voice your opinion on this very important matter!

There wil be a public meeting in September where you can also share your input with the city! If you need more information please reach out to us directly and we will share any information we have with you!

The days are feeling long and the uncertainty of this construction plan is wearing on us all. We need to hit that one thousand signature mark to ensure the city council cannot simply look the other way when we present our case. Please find two people who are willing to add their names today so we can finally be taken seriously.

The city remains silent on our concerns as the plans for this construction grind forward. It feels like a long road ahead but I am still here at the shop every day watching the traffic and knowing exactly what we stand to lose. Your messages remind me that others see the reality of this situation too.

I totally support not building this roundabout. Why would we further jeopardize downtown business, create driving confusion that likely would be worse than now, tie up traffic and business traffic for a significant length of time to gain what?

We need small businesses to make Elmira a better town not roundabouts. This will only hurt the ones that have survived many years and put a bad taste in future entrapanurers mouths as to the way government officials treat small businesses.

A roundabout located here would be foolish to say the least. Not only does it affect multiple businesses in that vicinity, but it will also turn a relatively smooth intersection into a real problem for people trying to go to these businesses.

Our community needs to support local businesses in order to keep our economy flowing. On top of that, this area wouldn't benefit from the roud about. The number of accidents there are minimal, i would argue, and businesses would be replaced by what better?

Quit bowing down to Elmira College! The college pays no taxes, has ruined Elmira's Property Tax Base by purchasing entire city blocks and converting them to parking lots! Let's take care of our own people and local businesses! NO to this hideous roundabout!!

I say no to the round-about, go take a look at the ones already in place - its very inconvenient for bigger box trucks and semi trucks can't go through, more issues plowing in the winter, more reasons for accidents, and a waste of tax dollar money. I say NO!

This intersection in no way requires a round-about. The confusion it will cause for area business, church & residents will far outweigh any conceivable benefit. Let the state/feds keep their money & let us keep our neighborhood intact.

A huge waste of tax payer money. Please reconsider using this money for something way better.
