The Right to Freedom of Speech means that you cannot be arrested by the government for sharing your views. It does not mean particular institutions are beholden to giving any and everyone a platform to spread hatred.
This petition is redundant. ODU already detests white supremacy and protect their students against any violent actions which they may start.
I understand the rights that individuals and groups have that regards freedom of speech but when that freedom is tarnished and used to spread hate and racism, then is the freedom really being used how it was intended?
ODU giving permission for this to happen contradicts any other efforts they have made to stand against racism. Do you stand against racism because you actually care, or do you stand against racism to protect the reputation of the University?
Letting this happen in silence is compliance with white supremacist and alt-right ideologies. These people have proven time and time again that they are not worth platforming, as they only bring destruction and hate wherever they go. I ask you this, President Broderick, what will you say when this inevitably results in radicalization of young white college men? What will you say when one of them comes into OUR campus, OUR place of learning, with intent to kill, radicalized by these ideals?

its really disappointing that the school wont take a harder stance. hateful rhetoric has no place here and everyone knows it.
