Erskine College recently adopted a Statement on Human Sexuality that devalues members of society who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT), citing biblical standards. This statement was issued in the wake of a court's recent decision upholding same-sex marriage in South Carolina, where Erskine is located. The decision also comes as two Erskine students identified themselves as gay. The Statement was unnecessary and paints Erskine as a school of intolerance and bigotry. We respectfully ask Erskine to rescind its Statement.
