TECUMSEH VISTA ACADEMY SAFE-SCHOOL ZONE
As our student demographic matures and seasons allow, students will be walking to and from our school. As Banwell and Intersection are thru-roads for all local commuters, it is extremely busy during rush hours, mornings & evenings. There are currently no sidewalks, but steeply dangerous ditches to both sides bordered by farmland, no reduced speed limits, no flashing lights, no signage to indicate a school-zone, no barriers for safe pedestrian railroad-crossing. Why have the necessary provisions to secure the safety of students, parents, staff, other caregivers, etc. been neglected or ignored? We need attention drawn to this matter without further haste. We need to secure the safety of our school community before serious peril to our children. Help us to ensure our collective voice is heard! We want the following installed immediately: sidewalks along Banwell & Intersection, flashing lights @ Banwell/Shields/Intersection to warn drivers to slow down, crosswalks at school entrance, school-zone signage, reduced speed limits, increased fines, all of the above! The growth of this petition has captured the attention of local municipal planners. I have secured a meeting with the transportation department to review the documented safety hazards along Banwell and Intersection.

it is actual insanity watching people speed thru there when kids are around. waiting for a tragedy to happen is not a strategy.
how is there no sidewalk on a busy road right by a school?? the city needs to wake up before someone gets really hurt on that railroad crossing. its dangerous.
