I am a concerned mother in the Washingtonville Area of Mamaroneck and I have had too year after year find ways for my children to travel to and from school when only one block away are going around the corner thier are children being bussed. Our children are more than 1 mile and 3/4 away from the school that is in question. Children leaving Mamaroneck Avenue School to attend the Hommocks who live in the lower income area or forced to find means of transportation to school when familys with more finacial means are bussed this is in no way to try and take anything away from anyone but to make it easier and safer for are children to travel to school. Most of the Parents don't drive and for those that do they can only take one or two some are either working and the timing is off or other siblings at home make it hard to make both schools. Then their is the bee line bus that makes our children either leave earlier and get home late and still makes them walk at least a 1/4 of a mile to get to the school and back to the bus stop. not to mention the most important issue leaving our children vulnerable to predators to have easier access to pick up our children. We are asking to find a focus place that one or two buses can pick up are children and supply the necessary transportation for our children the same with pick up from school. Their are plenty of familys in this area that would use this service and it would not only put our minds at rest about the safety but allow us to know that our children have a way back and forth. Please help us take a stand for busing in the Washingtonville Area.
