District 30 students are being been offered district G & T seats at PS/IS 217 on Roosevelt Island, but the DOE is failing to provide busing, which costs families significant time and resources to transport their children. The lack of busing is also having a discriminatory, adverse impact on parents and students who are less economically advantaged. Please help us advocate to rectify this discriminatory policy that is denying many students access to a district G & T program, based on socio-economic status. We the undersigned demand transportation provided by the DOE so we have fair and equal access to appropriate education for our children.

The feedback I keep hearing from you all confirms that these transportation hurdles are breaking families down and keeping kids from the seats they earned. I have spent the last few days trying to get a straight answer from the department but the silence from their office is loud. This is exhausting work but the stories you are sharing keep me going.

Reaching this level of visibility feels heavy when I think about the many families still struggling to get their kids to school each morning. I am exhausted by the constant obstacles, but seeing this momentum gives me the resolve to keep pushing the department for a real solution.

This makes getting to work impossible for me. Fix this please!
My son deserves the same education as kids in other districts without me having to quit my job to drive him across the city. DO BETTER.
How are working parents suppose to get them there on time? This is completely unfair to families who dont have cars.
Ridiculous. If the DOE offers a seat they need to provide a way to get there. My tax dollars pay for this.
Its discriminatory simple as that. They know perfectly well that not everyone can afford a car or an hour of subway time each way.

Provide the busing. It should have been included from the start.
