We need to have representation. Our counsel is only interested in themselves and have no loyalty to their members. Our dues are wasted and being used irresponsibly.
We need new union representation!!

Why can't our Local ever get its act together. This type of immaturity has been going on for years. It's disgusting.

Feels like I am wasting money by spending on union dues. Union is just interested in getting our money and not on solving our problems. I have the same problem Kathy mentioned earlier and is so disappointed on what the union does to us. Now that so frustrated and lost the trust in union, I am planning on quitting to be a union member.

I am thoroughly disenchanted with the union at this point. Due to the rehabilitation therapist representative's incompetence, dance movement therapists were left out of the internship differential language of the 2015-2016 bargaining unit 19 contract with no attempt to create an addendum to fix this error.

I have been fighting an uphill battle for almost 2 years now. The state has been paying our overtime at straight time instead of time and a half. Seems crystal clear wrong but have gotten only local shop steward support. Finally got them to admit that it was wrong but they would only go back 1 year for correction. Pushed the issue through to level 3 which the state denied 11 months ago so requested arbitration and have had to HOUND our executive board (Sean personally more than once) to review our request and just recently they approved the request for arbitration. Now we are told that since negotiations are starting not to expect anything until negotiations are done. Not sure who I am more frustrated with.....the State or my Union. Oh wait, I give them money every month and my Union is supposed to be respresenting me.....

I would like to know how the money is being spent too. We are doing less than we were before. We are having fewer training's; lobby days was two days instead of three, with fewer participants; and now we are set for even fewer meetings. Yet, we seem to be spending about $90,000.00 a month more than we were last year. When I bring this up, all I am told is that we spend it on Union leave and travel. The Board is supposed to get the check register and credit card statements. But, we do not. I do know that the database that was supposed to cost $25,000.00 has cost $200,000.00 and counting. We pay the developers $300.00 and hour for Google Plus and browser add ons. Members are further restricted from participating in Union events because the forms online are not user friendly.

This action is long overdue! We have had inadequate representation for years. The AFSCME executives are more concerned with their salaries and holding power than representing the members they are paid to serve

Benjamin, there is a Board of Labor Relations. They do not, however, cover public employee unions. We must use our democratic processes to demand accountability. The thing we need to be careful of with this group is that they change what they are doing just enough to look like they are responding to demands without truly becoming more transparent.

Everyone needs to be accountable, especially with our union dues. This should be investigated thoroughly.

If there is a federal board that investigates union mismanagement, they should be contacted. A forensic accounting firm should be hired to audit expenditures including any discretionary spending. I am in favor of state and or federal prosecution if there are grounds for that. We pay a lot of money in yearly dues and it is shameful, unethical, if not criminal, to have our needs, issues, working conditions and job security unprofessionally and irresponsibly regarded and placed in jeopardy. If there are grounds, there should be individual criminal and civil charges brought., as well. No "Mr. Nice Guy" approach. Trust violation must not be ignored or we are at collective peril in the current atmosphere with regard to unions.
