The school board agreed to revise the dress code policy and drop the referral system for shirt violations. I am exhausted by this fight but relieved that we finally reached this conclusion. Please keep an eye on the new rules to ensure they are actually followed.

Let's see how many signatures we can get. Our goal is to build support to allow students at SHS and in Volusia to be able to wear appropriate (reasonable, non-offensive) T-Shirts and enable student expression. We also believe that a diciplanary referral is not appropriate for the second, or even third dress code offence. A referral is for behavior or violence, not having a shirt with no collar. Please share this petition with your friends and keep spreading it! Please keep comments constructive.

To succeed:

  • Share with your friends
  • Follow dress code until a repeal
  • Sign with your name and school
  • Keep sending it around and multiplying exposure around the county!
  • If we get enough signatures, we'll go to the school board.
  • Copy the webpage link!

Seeing this grow is exhausting but it proves that so many of you are tired of the current dress code policy. We have reached a point where the school board can no longer simply ignore us. I am going to keep pushing until these unnecessary referrals stop for good.

The current dress code at Seabreeze is unnecessary. Asking people to wear collared shirts every day is unreasonable, and students should be allowed to wear t-shirts as they please, as long as they arent trashy or inappropriate. I've heard of many stories that people are having a hard time getting collared shirts at stores, as they are selling out. Many other schools have a dress code that allows t-shirts; those schools are doing great, and the students maintain classy clothing.

I don’t go to seabreeze however I strongly support this cause at high schools across Volusia including my own.
