This petition serves as our voice against illegal immigrants being housed at the Syracuse St. Anthony Motherhouse on Court Street.
We, as neighborhood Syracuse residents object to the immigrants of the current border crisis being housed in our community because of the obvious spread of disease and sickness such as MRSA, TB, lice, scabies, strep, skin disease and others. Furthermore, we object to our hard earned tax dollars being used for their benefits such as food, clothing, healthcare, etc.
This is unacceptable and we protest!
By signing this petition, each person states their objection to the above and we petition that these immigrants not be brought to Syracuse, NY, and in particular to our neighborhood.
I have spoken with the communications director for the Maria Regina campus. One of the many arguments she offered in defense of the nuns bringing the illegal children into the facility was that this was a private business venture, and that we really don't have a voice in what they do with their private property. I hope everyone understands this mindset. In the end, whatever you give to the church belongs to them, and you have no say in what they decide to do. with it. I wasn't surprised by her remarks. We saw firsthand what they did to our parish - er theirs I guess. I'm curious to know where Maria Regina and the Franciscans got the money to buy and build upon their private property and house the nuns.
